Due to the external influences in our life from stress and environmental factors, many of us have lost touch with our health and happiness. Most of us know these days that our food system, and environment are suffering greatly. These issues influence our health and well being. It can be depressing to contemplate these issues. Luckily there is a path that can bring you into harmony with our environment, planet, and spiritual principles: evidenced based nutrition coupled with mindful eating.
We all have been led to believe that a variety of diet fads are the solution to our health. Typically the ground breaking nature of these claims has more to do with marketing than anything else. You know the drill. You get motivated to make some health changes. You go out and buy a whole bunch of expensive supplements and powders, and then you start some program you saw on social media somewhere. It works well for a few months but then life happens and you find you end up going back to your old habits because you didn’t really learn anything about what drives you to eat or how to make food choices to support your health. Unfortunately most fads leave people disappointed in the long run, and the research is clear. Most fad diets fail people. This is why I take an evidenced based approach to nutrition that is fad free.
Part of the work we’ll do together is get to the root causes of the issues at hand. All clients will get an in depth intake consult that will allow us to dig deeper than most.
We will utilize mindful eating principles to heal your relationship with food and promote optimal health with evidenced based nutrition. I’ll support you in figuring out how to eat in a way that not only acknowledges the health of your body, it also acknowledges the desire we all have to be happy and leave a world that our children will thrive in.
Let’s look at a few commonly missed factors which can affect your overall health and that are incorporated into every meeting.
Inflammation Lowering: Study after study shows that healthy eating lowers inflammation via a variety of biochemical pathways. Ever notice how all the inflammation lowering supplements and foods are all from plants? Inflammation is a driving force for a variety of long term and lifestyle diseases. Eating whole foods has been proven to reduce inflammation. This can potentially help reverse the course of a lifestyle disease or can improve your health so that you can take your performance to the next level.
Microbiome supporting: Gut microbes love fiber and they use it to produce short chain fatty acids. Science shows short chain fatty acids are beneficial for multiple parts of our body. Maintaining a healthy microbiome is essential for overall health. Most Americans are extremely fiber deficient, which means some people will need to take their time as they make the transition to eating more whole foods. An all or nothing, black and white outlook can often get in the way of long term change and actually lead to short term discomfort.
Flexible: Teaching you how to be mindful means there will be room for self compassion. Each person has to define their health goals along their path and go at the pace that works for them. As your guide I will maintain the integrity of honesty but do so with compassion and understanding. We all have our own pace but when properly motivated we can all reach further than we realize.
Integrative: There is no diet in the world that will shield you from the damage of a poor lifestyle. When I work with my clients, lifestyle factors are not left out. From sleep to physical activity and stress management, we will look at a variety of factors. Part of working with me will include prioritizing which changes will work best for you.
What to expect:
All of my clients will complete an extensive intake process. The intake forms are a valuable piece of working with me. They allow me to get a full understanding of what your unique circumstances are and differentiate my services from the numerous fad diet fitness plans that you can find online. All these plans give you do’s and don’t but they rarely give you the scientific foundation. Why do we crave what we do? Why is this or that food important? Why are certain foods more harmful than others?
The intake process allows me to understand your unique needs so we can plan appropriately. It give me the ability to do what health coaches can’t, assess your medical nutrition needs so that diet and supplement interventions are tailored to you. In addition, it allows me to make referrals to other practitioners for lab work or additional support. Working with me is far and above any fad diet out there. Without this extensive process it could take several sessions to get all the information necessary, and that could lead to confusing changes that interfere with your ability to thrive. Ever been on some fad diet and only at the end of it did the coach or trainer finally ask the right questions, the ones they should have spent more time asking on day one? Often this is a business tactic to get you to buy more of their service. When we work together we work to get to the root issues right away so you can make the changes you need to feel your best.
During the hour and a half intake consult, we will take a deep dive into your health history, your symptoms, and your present circumstances. This will allow us to tailor a plan that will be personalized to fit your individual needs.

This allows me to make decisions about supplements based on scientific evidence, and quality assurance testing that looks at contamination and truth in advertising.
